Work, Travel, Whole30
OK, first of all, work convention and diet do not belong together. Period. And yet, that is exactly the situation I am in for the next three days. I have to admit I am a little concerned because it’s SO EASY to get off track when I’m not in my kitchen and can’t cook W30 compliant meals. But, despite it all, I am pushing through. I got this!
I knew I would need a variety of choices so I wouldn’t get bored, so I went to Trader Joe’s. My ride or die place to shop. Most hotels have breakfast and most have W30 choices. But just to be certain I wouldn’t have to choose between a waffle or bagel, I picked up a bag of already boiled and peeled eggs. I also grabbed almond butter, raw cashews, bananas, apples and plantain chips. I already had a few other options in my fridge. So here’s what I packed in my cooler bag:
- Trader Joe’s Pico de Gallo (mild – I know I’m a wimp!)
- Wholly Guacamole mini cups
- Almond butter
- Boiled eggs
- Raw cashews
- Plantain chips
- Albacore tuna packets
- “Nutpods’ creamer for coffee
These are the things you will find in my pantry and fridge at all times so I figured if I had familiar alternatives I wouldn’t feel too out of sorts not being in my own kitchen. So far, so good. I had a client dinner tonight and I sailed right through. Instead of the voodka soda with lime, I had soda with lime. Soda makes me feel so fancy! I’m not a big drinker so that wasn’t difficult. Desserts are a different story – but I managed to live without it – and I didn’t even stop at the hotel store for M&M’s – yeah me!
